We assembled a team to develop an innovative online module targeted to research mentors of graduate students, fellows, and junior faculty in biomedical, behavioral, and social science fields. The product, Optimizing the Practice of Mentoring (OPM), was launched by our CTSI in 2012 and remains free to users within and outside our institution [37]. Content is organized into five sections: (1) types of mentoring models, (2) research mentor roles and responsibilities, (3) phases of the mentoring relationship, (4) strategies for fostering good relationships, and (5) approaches to addressing mentorship challenges. Learners engage with the material through text, audio, mini presentations, case study explorations, and other brief interactive activities. They also complete a Mentoring Action Plan and have access to an online toolkit. Completion time ranges from 1 to 2 hours, depending on how deeply learners engage with the exercises and explore the supplemental resources.

MARTIN: In 2007, Miller reported her assault to Baptist Church officials. They determined that it did happen, but they never fired her abuser, who then found another position within the church. Last year, Miller, who is now 38 years old, reported him to the police. In December, he was indicted for sexual assault of a child. I asked Anne Marie Miller what went through her mind when she read the investigations in the newspaper.

The fate of the Frank family and other Jews in Amsterdam was wrapped up with the German occupation of the city, which began in May 1940. In early 1942, the Germans began preparations to deport Jews from the Netherlands to killing centers in the east. At this time, they required all Dutch Jews to be concentrated in Amsterdam. They also decided to intern all non-Dutch Jews in Westerbork transit camp. From Westerbork, German officials deported the Jews to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Sobibor killing centers in German-occupied Poland. The first deportation transport left Westerbork on July 15, 1942, for Auschwitz-Birkenau. These deportations and the escalating anti-Jewish measures alarmed many Jews in the Netherlands, including the Franks.

Gone from the evidence vault are Fahey's wallet, jewelry box and the diary that gave investigators much-needed clues that pointed to her murderer. Her family took those items years ago, court officials say.

Bundy spent 11 years on Florida's death row. During that time, he did interviews with journalists, a psychiatrist, and researchers. During audio-taped interviews with journalists Stephen Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth in 1980 and 1981, Bundy, speaking in the third person, told them a story about killing a young girl in an orchard. In 1983, Bev and Don Burr read the book based on these interviews, The Only Living Witness. On May 30, 1986, Bev wrote to Bundy: "With all appeals likely to be refused and soon, there is nothing left for you in this world; there can STILL be everything good for you in the next. You have nothing more to lose in this world ... will you write to me regarding Ann Marie?" (Personal letters). 041b061a72
